What is a Ribbon Blender?
A ribbon blender is a horizontal mixing machine designed for uniform blending of dry powders, granules and low-viscosity materials. A double helical ribbon agitator turns inside a stationary trough and produces a consistent, homogeneous blend in a short cycle time.
What Are the Special Features of a Ribbon Blender?
- The ribbons move the material both radially and laterally to ensure thorough blends in short cycle times. This triple mixing action ensures fast, efficient blending.
- Dustproof top cover with window can be provided on demand.
- An alternate design is the paddle Agitator with paddles positioned to move the material in opposing lateral directions as well as radially. The paddle design is generally employed where friable materials are being blended and when batches as small as 15% of the total capacity are going to be mixed in the blender.

How Does a Ribbon Blender Work?
The trough holds a central shaft fitted with a double helical ribbon agitator. The outer ribbon moves material in one direction along the trough while the inner ribbon moves it in the opposite direction, and the material also moves radially. This repeated folding action blends the batch evenly. The finished batch is then emptied through the discharge outlet.
